Top 20 SEO Copy Writing Blogging Blogs In 2011

Well, I wanted to create a ‘top five’ or ‘best 10’ list of writing blogs (I don’t like long copies). But it was too hard since making a choice between all those awesome blogs that are out there is definitely hard. I ended up making it a Top 20 list, divided into categories that suit this site.

But I have been honest with myself and enlisted those ones which I myself like to read and follow on a regular basis.

This takes everything from content to design into account. But most importantly, I have focused on the quality of content. As a beginner, it is highly recommended that you follow them daily to increase your level of knowledge in the respected areas.

Blogging

  1. Problogger – In 2004, Darren Rowse became a Problogger. To be honest, I would say this is a good blog to start with for a beginner. Everything about blogging starting from how to write blogs to how to earn money through Amazon affiliates, very simple and easy to understand!
  2. Copy Blogger – Two years after Problogger started, Brian Clark created one of the most successful online marketing blogs so far. The secret to the success of this blog is the clever marketing presentation of Brian, no doubt. If you look at the short interesting posts with catchy titles, you are at Copy Blogger.
  3. Daily Blog Tips – There are very few blogs who show variety, and Daniel Scocco is doing a great job there. I totally adore the “Bloggers Face-off” section. Apart from that, I have chatted with Daniel for a couple of times. Definitely a good guy!
  4. David Risley – In the world of blogging, everybody knows David’s name. He is one of the most successful bloggers out there. Yeah, he started almost 10 years back and he promises to make your blog an income machine. Definitely worth a look!
  5. Blogging Tips – This is relatively a new blog, started in 2007. Even I came to know about it a few months back. I would say the posts are interesting. Detailed and quirky at times, but definitely something to check!

Freelance Writing

  1. Freelance Writing Gigs – This is the FIRST freelance writing blog that I came to know and follow. It was run by Deborah Ng at that time. To be very honest, it WAS quality when Deb was there. Now you can only get regular job updates from this site. Still one of the best freelance writing blogs out there.
  2. All Freelance Writing – It was started as a group blog by Jenn Mattern, a PR writer and blogger, in 2007 (most probably). After four years, it is one of the most reliable and GREAT freelance writing blogs out there. I have been following it for quite some time now and I totally dig the short, interesting and value posts that come out almost regularly.
  3. Freelance Switch – I am actually lucky that I found this blog. Founded in April 2007, Collis Ta’eed wanted to do something for the freelancers out there. Thus was born Freelance Switch. Three things he says went into the success of the blog – timing, hard work and innovation. True it is!
  4. Freelance Folder – I recently came to know of this site, but it seems I am a bit late. It is already one of the best freelancing blogs out there. John Phillips already made his mark in the freelance writing and blogging world. And very honestly, I would love to be a part of guest post for them. Lovely site!
  5. Renegade Writer – To start with, I really love the layout of this blog. But that’s not all. Linda Formichelli and Diana Burrell created one of the best writing and publishing sites there is. Authors of books such as The Renegade Writer: A Totally Unconventional Guide to Freelance Writing Success and The Renegade Writer’s Query Letters That Rock, they have done a great job educating the beginning writers out there.

Copywriting

  1. Bob Bly – With over 3 decades of experience in B2B copywriting, whatever Mr. Bly writes is pure gold. If you are an aspiring copywriter, you should read what he says.
  2. John Carlton – Who can deny the genius of John Carlton? He was the one great freelancer to whom London ad agencies would resort to when their staff writers would fail. On the inside with some of the greatest copywriting legends such as Jay Abraham and Gary Halbert, John Carlton sure has something of value to share with you.
  3. Gary Halbert – I guess this blog post by John Carlton will say it all. Well, I was not so lucky to meet this genius in person. But I have been receiving his letters, written long back, regularly visiting my inbox, and I can tell you he was one of the greatest legends in the copywriting history.
  4. Ted Nicholas – Let’s just say, Ted Nicholas is our quintessential rags-to-riches story. Ted was one of those great entrepreneurs who could NEVER stop. He started out at the age of seventeen when he started selling Kirky vacuum cleaners door to door and went on selling all through his life. You may not be able to get a regular blog here but the articles should be enough for a lifetime.
  5. Dan Kennedy – Have you heard about the Millionaire Maker? That’s a huge title to anyone, don’t you think? Well, that’s how our very own Dan Kennedy was summoned with. One of the greatest marketing experts of the contemporary time, you should definitely follow his articles if not attend his $3000 per person seminars.

SEO

  1. SEOMoz – The foundation stone was laid by Gillian Muessig in 1981 and it was solidified and given a definition in 2004 with the intensive effort of Rand Fishkin. Thus SEOMoz came into being and now, it is one white hat SEO site that every SEO specialist swears by. If you are one, you should also frequent it to know more about what SEO really means.
  2. SEOBook – Run by Aaron Wall, founder and one of the best SEO experts in the industry, this is one true straight-on-the-face informative website that speaks mainly marketing tips, search analysis, online business tips, and general commentary on the evolution of the web from an algorithmic, publishing & business model perspective. Don’t miss this site.
  3. Search Engine Watch – If you want the total history, you can read this SEL article. But all I can say is if there is one authentic and quality SEO blog you must and must follow, that is Search Engine Watch. Also count Search Engine Land into that as well. It’s the same genius behind them – Danny Sullivan. Nice read, very informative!
  4. Master Google – Well, this may not be that popular a site as compared to the previous ones, it has still captivated my heart and most importantly, attention enough to make me enlist it here. Short informative posts, sometime really marvelous ones – I would congratulate Ali Husayni for the blog.
  5. Ethical IM – This is one of my friend’s sites, Josh Spaulding. If you are into article marketing, you must have heard his name. What I like most about this site – how it answers the most common question for the beginners and the real short and sweet presentation of the posts. Though it is mostly about internet marketing in general, but the SEO blogs are real quality. Keep it up, mate!

I have tried to include everything that I LOVE into this list. If you want to refer someone or something, do let me know. I am waiting for your comments.
