Back in my comparative days, there were a few servers that could crank 120mph serves consistently. They were tough, but to me, a 100mph high spin serve is much harder to return effectively than a 125mph flat serve. For flat serves, all you really have to do is get a racket on it and most of that power is transferred right back.

A consistent serve that has a high percentage. Remember that a controlled spin-serve is better than an inconsistently powerful flat serve. A continental grip will give you an easy contact point. An eastern backhand grip will give you more access to spin. Personally, I prefer something in-between.
Watching broadcasts of tennis from the '80s through the early 2000s, every single serve started out with a shot of the server or returner up close, then cut to the high/wide view as the server was halfway through the motion. It made it very difficult to see what anyone's full serve motion actually looked like and was extremely annoying.
